A friend recently inspired me to think about the stories we tell ourselves — and how easily we treat them as true.
I decided to gently challenge one I’ve carried for a long time: “I’m not a plant person.”
I’ve shared a picture of an unhappy plant that was recently gifted to me. In the past, I probably would’ve thrown it out. This time, I chose to believe I could enjoy and care for living plants in my home.
I did a bit of research, realized I had accidentally overwatered it, and tried a few gentle next steps to help prevent root rot.
Even if this plant doesn’t make it, something shifted for me — I noticed myself changing the story from “I can’t keep plants alive” to “I’m learning what this plant needs.”
That felt like a small but real thriving moment.
