Infinity Symbol!
Have you ever stopped to think that everything around us is a symbol? A computer, a phone, a meal, a piece of clothing—everything carries meaning.
My thoughts this morning have been circling around the infinity symbol, the one I also have tattooed on my arm. When I got it, it was a statement. I saw it as a powerful symbol, and I still do. The difference is that today I see more layers to it, and that has turned it into something that also challenges me.
Have you ever thought about what it truly represents?
Have you ever considered that it has a shadow side?
For centuries, the infinity symbol has represented endless possibilities, balance, and the eternal flow between the physical and the spiritual. It reminds us that energy never disappears—it simply changes form.
It can symbolize the soul's endless journey through life, death, and rebirth. It reflects the balance between opposites—light and darkness, masculine and feminine—and echoes the ancient principle, "As above, so below," the constant movement of energy.
But the symbol also has another side.
If we become trapped in the same thoughts, emotions, or life patterns, the infinity symbol can instead represent a cycle without growth. We go around and around, convinced we're moving forward, when in reality we're simply repeating what we've always known. Only when we're willing to step outside the loop can a new path begin.
Its shadow side reminds us of an endless loop.
A karmic cycle that someone—or something—benefits from us never breaking. It can represent inherited programming, where we repeat the same patterns generation after generation. It can also be connected to the idea of the Ouroboros—the serpent eating its own tail—a symbol of a closed system where true freedom never exists.
The infinity symbol always represents movement.
But is that movement leading you toward growth...
...or simply taking you around the same circle once again?
Eternity is not the same as evolution.
It is possible to spend an entire lifetime in motion without ever truly changing.
The infinity symbol can represent infinite possibilities—but it can just as easily represent infinite repetition.
The difference isn't in the symbol.
The difference is in the choices we make.
So...
What do you choose?
The other symbols tattooed from my thumb to my ring finger are bind runes. They face outward because the right hand is the giving hand—it sends energy into the world. On my little finger, you'll find the Roman numerals for The Sun, The Wheel of Fortune, and The Magician—three Tarot cards that represent what I consider my own life path.
