Trees give and receive. Their growth whether that be slow or fast also are shaped by internal and external factors. Those factors can also hinder or be stressor. Working through them can be quick or lifelong. It takes light, water, nutrients daily to become healthy, productive and supportive. Its roots which most often not visible are growing and a part of the tree; they are like cultural identity, the soul and ancestors. The central leader, limbs, leaves, flower and fruit are my body and brain/mind.
The benefits of trees like that of me can impact so many aspects for example, the environment, aesthetic, economic, psychological and social. They protect not only smaller trees from the elements but also the ecosystem. I too can protect my daughters, a role model for others, a guide, teacher, and a servant for others and for trees. Trees are sources of gathering and ceremony, unity, service and recovery and so can I. These are ways that mirror my recovery journey.
