“It's not your mindset that's holding you back — it's your nervous system.” -Elizabeth Morse If you are like me you’ve had moments where you were trying to work on your self love, confidence, career, love life, etc… but you always ended up not making the progress you would of liked, feeling burnt out, or still continuing old toxic patterns. It wasn’t until I learned about the nervous system and how to heal the nervous system did I start to REALLY make progress. 📈 Our nervous systems hold onto our past hurt, traumas, etc… to help us protect ourselves from experiences similar they are seen as threats to our existence. We then subconsciously create patterns, ways of thinking and being to help us feel comfortable when triggered even if those habits are unhealthy. 🦋Free yourself today by assisting yourself in recognizing that you are safe. When you get nervous about trying a new hairstyle, not wearing makeup, releasing that ex, saying no, speaking your truth…. 1. Remind yourself that expressing yourself authentically and doing what is best for you is self love and needed for your well-being. 🌻 2. Practice a breathing technique to calm your nerves and bring you back into your body instead of in your head. Breathe in for a count of 4 Hold for 2 Breathe out for a count of 6. The extended inhale calms you down. Do it about 6 times ✨ Freedom Looks Good On You 🌻 How will you set yourself free with nervous system regulation this week? For me I am releasing my desire for a men in my life that I am interested in. I go through these patterns of unhealthy attachment. This has been distracting me from showing up for myself. My nervous system clings to holding onto connections with men because of my own relationship with my father growing up. My nervous system sees distance with men I am attracted to as a threat so I comfort myself by looking at their socials, etc… So this week I am beginning my journey to end this cycle once and for all. Starting off by not engaging in activities that make me think about this specific person and when I get anxious I’ll do my breathing practice.
