Let me be honest with you before I say anything else. I am not someone who built a community because I had everything figured out. I built it because I kept showing up to my own life with a notebook full of ideas and no real place to take them. For a long time, survival was the whole plan. Not thriving. Not building. Just making it through the week. I have been a special needs parent, navigating systems that were not designed with people like us in mind. I have been managing fibromyalgia and long COVID in a body that does not always cooperate with what my mind wants to do. I went through divorce. I did the single parenting thing. I carried all of it, mostly quietly, mostly alone, and I kept telling myself that I would build the thing I wanted to build once life settled down. Life did not settle down. It just changed shape. At some point I stopped waiting for the calm and started asking a different question. Not "when will I have the time and energy for this?" but "what does building something actually look like for someone in my real life, with my real capacity, in my real season?" That shift is what I now call my Phoenix Era. Not a glow-up. Not a rebrand. Just a genuine, sometimes messy, decision to stop pretending I was going to get back to who I used to be and start building something that fits who I am now. And here is what I kept seeing as I started doing that work. I kept running into people who were exactly where I had been. Caregivers with real creative visions who could not figure out how to start. People managing chronic illness who had been told, in a hundred different ways, that building something was for people with more energy, more money, more time. Over-40 folks who had been through the fire of divorce, job loss, health crises, or caregiving and were sitting on meaningful ideas they had never been given permission to take seriously. Small-brand owners who needed a room to think out loud, not another course to complete alone. They were not stuck because they lacked ideas. They were stuck in the gap between knowing what they wanted and actually starting.
