Menstrual Monday - Annovulation
Have you ever had a really long cycle… 40, 50+ days? Skipped a period completely? Or maybe you’re someone who doesn’t bleed monthly?
For years, I had extremely irregular cycles—sometimes missing months at a time.
And honestly? It was frustrating.I never knew when my period was coming… or if it was coming.
And of course… my doctor wasn’t much help.
This can often come down to anovulatory cycles. That means your body goes through the motions of a cycle…but doesn’t actually ovulate. No ovulation = No progesterone rise. No clear signal to trigger a proper, timely bleed
So what happens?
  • Your cycle can get longer and longer
  • You might skip periods
  • Bleeding can feel random or unpredictable
This isn’t just something that happens when you’re younger…
This is also exactly what starts happening in perimenopause.
Ovulation becomes:
  • Irregular
  • Inconsistent
  • Sometimes completely skipped
But here’s the misconception:
Missing periods does NOT automatically mean you’ve stopped ovulating for good.
In perimenopause, your body can:
  • Skip a period
  • Then ovulate the next cycle
  • Then skip again
It’s unpredictable, not finished.
If your cycle has ever felt confusing, inconsistent, or all over the place…
Have you ever experienced long or irregular cycles like this?
