Hi Teresa — thank you for the warm welcome!
I’m Jason, writing from, BC Canada,
where I spend an unreasonable
amount of time staring at sentences
like they owe me money.
What I’m writing:
A nonfiction project
that blends personal reflection
with storytelling —
the kind of book
that keeps tapping me on the shoulder
saying, “Hey, remember me?”
Genre/goal: Narrative nonfiction / creative nonfiction.
My goal is to get a full, clean draft
this year
without dramatically threatening
to delete it every other Tuesday.
Writing in English as: Native speaker —
though some days my brain
behaves like an ESL student
who’s still negotiating with grammar.
Biggest challenge right now: Momentum.
I’ll have a great writing day,
then suddenly
I’m reorganizing my bookshelf
like it’s a competitive sport.
I’m working on staying consistent
and not letting fear steer the car —
it can ride along,
but it doesn’t get to pick the playlist.
One thing I’d love help with:
Clear, practical structure guidance
and line‑level clarity
as I move through revisions.
I’m good at generating ideas;
I’m less good
at making them behave on the page.
My goal for this month: Finish revising two chapters
and share one excerpt for feedback.
Looking forward to jumping into the prompts,
learning from everyone,
and cheering on your wins.
Thanks again for creating
such a calm, encouraging space —
my draft already feels safer here
than it does in my Google Docs folder!
