Consecrating Your Besom
Before first use, cleanse it with smoke, moonlight, or breath. Hold it and state its purpose clearly. Example “You are no common broom. You are a tool of threshold, protection, and cleansing. Serve me in truth and power.” Never let others casually use or step over your besom.

Besom Ritual & Circle Casting
The besom can be used to define sacred space. Before casting a circle, walk the perimeter and lightly sweep the air or ground to “clear” the ritual boundary. This marks the space as between worlds—a liminal zone where magic is active.

Besom Protection & Threshold Work
The besom is powerful for guarding liminal spaces like doorways. Place the besom horizontally above a door or upright beside it with intention for protection. You can also sweep across the doorway in a crossing motion while stating a protective charm or intention. This is especially effective for warding, banishing unwanted spirits, or setting boundaries.

Cleansing a Space (Energetic Sweeping)
Use the besom to remove stagnant or unwanted energy. Stand at the back of the space and gently sweep without touching the floor, moving toward the door. Visualize dense or harmful energy lifting and being pushed out. Always sweep outward, never inward. When finished, tap the besom lightly outside to release what was removed. Best times New Moon, Dark Moon, before rituals, after arguments, illness, or guests
