3 Books Creatives Need to Read
3 books that have really helped me in my career path as a self employed voice actor.
I highly recommend these if you make make your living in a field that youre truly passionate about (or would like to!)
1. THE WAR OF ART by Steven Pressfield
A former Marine and a best selling novelit with a very pragmatic mind, this book goes into the psychology being creative, the importance of discipline even when alot of emotion is present, how to navigate success and failure, sacrifice, and the nature of persistence.
2. CONGRATULATIONS, WHO ARE YOU AGAIN? by Harrison Scott Key
A hilarious memoir about the process of writing his first hilarious memoir.
While there are lots of laughs along the way, it’s chock full of examples of how a guy chased a dream and achieved it.
3. STEAL LIKE AN ARTIST by Austin Kleon
According to Kleon, emulating great artists until your own style evolves into something usable, is a great way to develop any art form.
P.S. the RemRock wallet is made by my brother Joseph Phillips (who gave me book #3!)
The wristwatch is a Citizen Eco-Drive Sailhawk that another brother gave me to commemorate us getting our Keelboat and Coastal Navigation Certifications from the American Sailing Association
