today’s message 🤍
John 12:24–28 reminds us that following Jesus requires us to die to ourselves.
John 12:25 says, “he that loves his life shall lose it; and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.” …this doesn’t mean we should hate being alive. it means we can’t love our comfort, our own desires, or our old way of living more than we love God.
some parts of us have to die so the person God created us to be can truly live. even Jesus admitted that His soul was troubled, but He still chose God’s will and said, “Father, glorify thy name.” this is one of my favorite parts of this book, because it shows how human Jesus was. He understands us.
today, I pray… Lord, even when obedience is uncomfortable, help me choose You over myself. make me less like me, and more like You. let my life glorify Your name.
