New additions to the Classroom
Hi Friend! Hey, I've added a couple of videos to the classroom. The first is a foundational video on the Universal Laws of Creativity which is exactly what makes this whole thing a Technology of Imagination. It's filled with important practices for turning your thoughts into things and will be a good base of information to build this community upon. The second is a powerful practice for clarifying your signal and reducing the noice in your life. Check them out. You'll be glad you did! Welcome| Start here!
Hello and welcome to the community of the Technology of Imagination- a purely human approach to turning your thoughts into things all over creation. When activated creatives come together in a Kindred Quest, the world becomes a better place. This community is about taking on your big ideas and making them real. It's about practices from the inside out and a collective journey to the heart of what truly makes us human- our creativity. This is how we build a life by our design. Here's how to get started: 1. Watch this video. It'll explain some stuff. 2. Participate: Introduce yourself, what you're up to, what you're intending to create for yourself through this community, what you might need. 3. Respond to other introductions. Get to know each other. This is could potentially be a vastly more interesting social channel than any of your others because this is where the juice of your life is. And participating will make it even more so. 4. Periodically check the classroom for content. It will grow as we do. 5. Come to one of the live calls and share what you're up to, connect with others, move the needle or just hang out. Check the calendar for times and dates. 6. If you're already operating at a high level or have a project that needs special attention, DM me and we can talk about deepening our approach to turning your thought into a thing. Getting Started with Week One!
How is it already August?! Time, amiright? Let's get this thing going. This week we'll have two onboarding calls on Wednesday to get you up to speed on the Universal Laws of Creativity as well as getting a short exercise designed to clarify your signal and reduce the noise in your life. And dang, there's a lot of noise these days. Check the calendar above to find a time that works for you. Our regular Kindred Quest calls will be Wednesdays at 8AM Pacific. That's your regular cadence to stay tuned to turning your thoughts into things. If you can't make that call, let me know and we'll figure something out. Looking forward to seeing you this week! Week Two Offerings
This week in the Technology of Imagination we've got the wonderful Eve Mobley modeling on Monday afternoon at 4PM Pacific. All levels welcome for our live costumed model. Come and draw, write, paint, carve a potato or just stare. This is your time to get close to the work. Just to be clear, she'll be wearing a costume. Your costume is optional (but welcome!). @Matthew Hanover Then join us on Wednesday at 8AM Pacific for our Kindred Quest meeting to connect with other creatives and move the needle on what moves you. I'll start the meeting with a discussion/sermon/rant About Doubt. We'll explore what this has to do with the so-called "Imposter Syndrome," or the flag in your brain or Hokusai or the absolute most important quality on earth- and it's not gravity. Lastly, remember to introduce yourself and what you're up to. Take two minutes to drop in an image you're dreaming up or something that inspires you. If you're touched by it, someone else will be, too. Check the Skool calendar and join your fellow creators this week. Let's make this world a better place with the things you're up to. Creativity for Humans
We had a great session yesterday afternoon with our fabulous model Shanna. We had nine folks online and three in the studio. I spoke a little about how this is really more about seeing that it is about drawing. We use this sacred space to bridge the gap between the subject and the object, between the seer and the seen. It's more than looking at a model, it's a way to be present to your life. We also spoke about how to hack past your thoughts and draw from the heart. Come by next time and I'll show you how to do that. Here are a few of my drawings from the session as well as the color pastels from the amazing Angelo DiNallo. If you were there and would like to share, please feel free! This was our first session together so it's perfectly ok to start where you are.
