Lately, I've been doing hypnosis work with several people on helping them get better, deeper, more restful sleep. Most people don't realize that their sleep patterns are a habit. Like any habit, (I.e. smoking, exercise, eating, drinking, etc.), sleep is a learned behavior. After repeating the same cycle over and over for long enough, a behavior becomes a habit. The great news is that habits can be changed. Thus if you're not getting the sleep you need or want, that is something that is totally changeable. But it requires a two-pronged approach. The first is doing everything you can physically to set yourself up for success. * no screens (phone, tv, tablets near your bed) * exercise and move your body during the day so you are ready for sleep * concentrate on relaxing daily (I.e meditation/self-hypnosis) * avoid unnatural aids for sleep * keeping your room dark, quiet, and comfortable * eliminate the thought of sleeping or not sleeping The other is the mental aspect. Changing your subconscious programming for sleep. This is where hypnosis comes in. The sleep patterns that you have now are simply a subconscious program that you are running as your operating system. Think of yourself as a biological computer. Your experiences and thought patterns from your life have all combined to give you the program you now run for sleep. If you sleep great, amazing! Keep it up.
