Fit for Spain…
Well... this wasn't quite the plot twist I was expecting! 🤣🇪🇸 When I started The Spanish Social, I thought I was creating a community around everything I love about Spain... the food, the sunshine, the slower pace of life, the beautiful villages and that feeling of being completely present. And don't get me wrong... I still absolutely love all of that. But here's the funny thing... Coaching keeps following me around like a stray cat that refuses to take the hint. 😂 No matter how many times I think, "No, I'm just going to post about Spain..." I somehow end up talking about strength, movement, confidence and living well. Then it hit me... It's never really been about Spain. It's been about how I want to feel in Spain. I want to be the woman who wanders the steep streets of Frigiliana without worrying about the hills. Who parks miles away from the mercadillo and doesn't think twice about the walk. Who lifts her own suitcase, explores all day and still has enough energy for an evening paseo and a glass of rosé. Watching my mum's world become smaller has changed how I think about getting older. And I don't want that for me. Or for you. So I'm not gatekeeping what I'm learning anymore. I'm launching Fit for Spain. 🇪🇸💚 Not because I want women to have a "holiday body." But because I want us to have holiday freedom. To keep saying yes. To keep travelling. To keep exploring. To keep our worlds big. If you're here because you love Spain, don't worry... that's not changing. We're just adding something that I believe is even more important. Because the strongest souvenir we can bring home... ...is a body that's ready for the next adventure. ☀️

Fit for Spain…
Pueblo First Timer?
I don’t think people realise what it’s like to visit a pueblo for the first time. If you have never visited a white washed village in Spain (pueblo blanco) I have a 6 tips for your first visit. 👟 Wear decent shoes. Cobbles, narrow steep streets and uneven ‘pavements’ are a pair of flip flops worst nightmare! Sturdy flat shoes are a must! 🚘 Be prepared to park on the outskirts and walk in to the centre. Many village roads are resident only access if any access at all! Some roads are so narrow that even if you can drive through the damage to your wing mirrors and back end just isn’t worth it. 🛍️ Be aware of market day. The mercadillo is always busy, people come from the campo and local towns to shop so there is usually less parking for visitors unless you get there really early! 🌤️ Visit in mid season. There is likely to be plenty of parking, lots of places to eat and the heat is more bearable. There is plenty of shadow between the narrow streets but at the hottest time of the year the air can feel a bit ‘heavy’. ⛰️ If you are pueblo hopping via the mountain roads beware that some aren’t fully finished, there are narrow pass places and there is always the chance of getting stuck behind a herd of goats and the possibility of meeting a burro or two! 💬 Listen for the locals, especially when choosing where to eat & drink. If the locals are eating and drinking there it is likely to be decent, using local produce and good value for money. 💚 Fit For Spain Top Tip: Get some hill walks in before you go or if there is a couple of steep roads where you live tackle them a few times, build up your walking stamina and fuel up well at breakfast!

FIT FOR MALAGA 🇪🇸
☀️ Thinking of exploring Málaga? Here are a few places that deserve a spot on your itinerary... 🇪🇸 One of the things I love most about Málaga is that it's a city best explored on foot. Around every corner there's history, sunshine and somewhere to stop for a coffee. 📍 Alcazaba A beautiful Moorish fortress with incredible views over the city and harbour. There are a few hills and steps, but they're well worth it. 🏰 Gibralfaro Castle If you're up for a climb, the panoramic views from the top are unforgettable. Your legs might know they've had a workout, but your camera roll will thank you! 🎨 Picasso Museum A must for art lovers. Málaga is Picasso's birthplace, and this museum offers a wonderful glimpse into his life and work. 🌴 Muelle Uno A relaxed waterfront promenade full of cafés, restaurants and shops. Perfect for an evening stroll as the sun begins to set. 🌺 Málaga's Historic Centre Lose yourself in the narrow streets, discover hidden plazas, browse local shops and enjoy the atmosphere. Every turn seems to reveal another beautiful building. 🏖️ La Malagueta Beach Whether you fancy a swim, a gentle walk along the promenade or simply sitting with a coffee watching the world go by, it's the perfect place to slow down. 💚 Fit for Spain Tip: One of the best things about Málaga is that exploring it naturally keeps you moving. Walking to viewpoints, wandering through the old town and strolling along the seafront all count towards an active day. Building your strength and fitness means you can enjoy every step without worrying whether you'll manage. Holidays aren't just about where you go... they're about feeling capable enough to enjoy every moment. 🇪🇸 Have you been to Málaga? What's your favourite spot?

Pan con Tomate
If you've ever been to Spain, you've probably seen it on almost every café menu. Fresh bread, some grated or scrubbed ripe tomato, a touch of garlic, a drizzle of good quality extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of sea salt. That's it. No fancy ingredients. No complicated recipes. No expensive "superfoods."Just simple, fresh food that's been enjoyed for generations. What I love most is that it reminds me healthy eating doesn't have to be perfect. It can be delicious, satisfying and full of flavour. If I want to make it a little more filling, I'll often add: 🥚 Eggs for protein 🧀 A little manchego cheese 🍖 A slice of jamón serrano, chorizo or salchicha 🥑 Or some avocado for healthy fats. It's a breakfast that fuels a morning of exploring villages, wandering markets or enjoying a long walk by the sea. Sometimes the Spanish way isn't about eating less... It's about eating real food and taking the time to enjoy it. What’s your ‘go to’ desayuno? 🍳 ——————————— ❤️💛❤️ Little "Fit for Spain" tip 🇪🇸 If you're aiming to stay strong as you get older, try pairing your pan con tomate with a good source of protein. It helps keep you fuller for longer and supports maintaining muscle—one of the best investments you can make for staying active and independent. It's not about giving up the bread. It's about building a breakfast that helps you keep saying "yes" to the life you love.
