This course explores the gradual loss of soul in Western culture. From the decline of indigenous and earth-centered worldviews to the rise of monotheism, rationalism, and modernity, we will examine how humanity became increasingly estranged from nature, imagination, and the mythic dimensions of experience. What was gained through progress, and what was lost? Together we will explore the forgotten wisdom of an ensouled world and the possibility of its renewal.
