Progress Over Perfection 🎶
I used to obsess over getting everything just right on guitar when I started..
..and honestly, I was setting myself up to fail.
Because I was a beginner comparing my guitar skills and sounds against a well polished guitarist, playing on a finished recording I wanted to sound like.
No matter how much I could try to force it, at the stage, I wasn't going to sound like Noel Gallagher playing Wonderwall.
And this pattern would emerge in different forms throughout my journey..
When I started to learn how to improvise, I was comparing my first efforts against how well Slash could solo..🤣
👉 Key lesson: High expectations lead to low enjoyment on guitar.
⭐️ Aim for progress over perfection.
It's an old saying, but the only person you really should compare yourself to is the player you were 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 3 years ago...
That is the comparison to make, and make it a gentle comparison..
Backed by future looking questions such as:
  1. What should I do more of?
  2. What do I need to do less of?
  3. What would I have done differently, knowing what I know now?
Make the adjustments, and continue along your journey.
🚀 There are a handful of spaces available for a 1-1 playing assessment this coming week:
You'll come away with a personalised roadmap to help you reach your guitar goals.
