Week 2 - DAY 1 — “Create in Me a Clean Heart”
Week 2 - DAY 1 — “Create in Me a Clean Heart”
Scripture Foundation: Psalm 51:10 (AMPC)“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.”
Highlighted Exegesis — “Create in Me a Clean Heart.”
The Hebrew word for “create” is bara — the same word used in Genesis 1.
It means:
  • to bring forth something entirely new
  • to shape by divine power
  • to form without relying on previous material
David is not asking God to repair his heart. He is asking God to recreate it.
The word “clean” is tahor, meaning:
  • purified
  • uncontaminated
  • free from mixture
  • morally and spiritually cleansed
Purity here is not perfection —It is undivided devotion.
David is saying, “God, remove the mixture in me. Remove the residue of old seasons. Remove the contamination of wrong desires, wrong motives, and wrong attachments.”
This is sanctification at the level of desire and motive.
Purification is not God punishing you —It is God preparing you.
Reference Scriptures
  • Psalm 24:3–4 — Clean hands and a pure heart.
  • Ezekiel 36:26 — A new heart and a new spirit.
  • Matthew 5:8 — The pure in heart shall see God.
  • James 4:8 — Purify your hearts.
  • 1 John 3:3 — Purify yourself as He is pure.
Life Application — Day 1
Today is about heart purification.
You are inviting God to confront:
  • mixed motives
  • emotional residue
  • hidden contamination
  • desires shaped by old wounds
  • attachments that compete with devotion
  • internal clutter from 2025
This is the day you allow God to clean the inner room —the place where decisions, desires, and direction are formed.
Pray this throughout the day, “Lord, create in me a clean heart. Remove what contaminates my devotion. Purify my motives, desires, and emotions. Make my heart whole, focused, and Yours.”
This is the day you stop carrying what polluted you—and start receiving what purifies you.
Reflection Questions — Day 1
  1. What emotions from last season still cling to my heart
  2. Where has mixture entered my motives or desires
  3. What attachments compete with my devotion to God
  4. What areas of my heart feel cluttered or contaminated
  5. What does a “clean heart” look like for me in this season
