You talk too much...
Many parents make the mistake of telling their little child "you talk too much."
Saying that might get kids to be quiet for now, but that's short-term thinking.
In the teenage years, parents often wonder "why won't my kid talk to me?"
Have you considered it's because the child
has grown to feel like their voice doesn't matter?
How would you feel if someone gave a constant
reminder of how annoying you are?
I invite you to try this instead:
Let your child know that you value their thoughts
and their voice is important.
Then tell them to give you some quiet time to reflect
on all the wonderful things they just shared.
This keeps the child's confidence intact, and parents still get some quiet time.
