What’s one small thing you’ve changed recently that has made your jobs easier or your results better?
Quick check-in from me — had a solid job recently that was a good reminder that the basics done well still make the biggest difference. We cleaned up an area that had built up a lot of grime, organic growth and general surface wear, and the end result came out great. Jobs like this are always satisfying, but they also remind me that good results usually come from process more than anything else. A few things worth remembering for anyone in the industry: 1. Spend a bit longer on your initial walkthrough. Look properly at the surface, the runoff, access, water supply and any risk areas before you even start. A few extra minutes here can save you a lot of hassle later. 2. Match your method to the surface. Not every surface wants the same pressure, chemical strength or rinse approach. The lads who get the best long-term results usually know when to ease off, not just when to hit harder. 3. Keep your setup efficient. Hose management, tools in the right place, and knowing your order of work makes a bigger difference than people think, especially on longer days. 4. Take better before and after content. Even if you are busy, get the shots. It helps with marketing, builds trust and gives you a record of the standard you are producing. 5. Communicate well with the customer. Letting them know what you’re doing, what result to expect and any limitations makes the whole job smoother and more professional. One thing I’m always trying to improve is keeping the work quality high while also tightening up the process behind the scenes.
