New in Premium: Shred Blocks

I’ve started adding something new to the Premium tier called Shred Blocks.

Shred Blocks are structured practice workouts you can plug directly into your practice schedule and run consistently over time. The idea is to install one block, commit to it, and let it work long enough to actually change your playing.

The current Shred Block is an alternate picking foundation block inspired by a daily routine Vinnie Moore used early on.

This specific block is designed to:

• improve synchronization between both hands

• stabilize your alternate picking mechanics across different string groupings

• build a strong technical base that transfers to any alternate picking pattern

• remove blind spots that cause picking to fall apart when patterns change

• make speed feel easier by fixing control and consistency first

It systematically covers:

• four-note-per-string patterns

• three-note-per-string patterns

• two-note-per-string patterns

• one-note-per-string patterns

• single-string picking

Everything is organized so both picking directions are trained evenly, without you having to consciously force it.

This is the kind of work that makes everything built on alternate picking feel more solid over time.

Shred Blocks are meant to be used like this:

• each block focuses on one specific technique

• each block has enough internal structure to be run for 4–8 weeks

• the goal is consistency, not rotating exercises daily

• they fit alongside whatever else you’re already practicing

You can think of them as modular building blocks you combine to create a balanced practice routine.

Future Shred Blocks will focus on other techniques as well, not just alternate picking. Each one will target a specific area you can install into your schedule when that’s what you want to improve.

Shred Blocks are part of Premium and can be found in the Classroom.

Each Shred Block comes with detailed video instruction, text and tab in the form of pdf and Guitar Pro files.
