Interesting results from the red cabbage dye workshop!
Here are pics of my results from yesterday, and also side-by-side shots from my first round of dyeing. The results are surprising! I'm excited to do more experiments! Since the baking soda gave more of a green, I'm going to try adding much less- starting with a teaspoon rather than a tablespoon next time. ;-D That might be the ticket to a cool blue.
On the comparison pics, the first round of dyed silks are on the bottom, and the second round of dyed fabrics (1 silk, and 3 wool) are on top. The yellow tint of the wool warmed up the color quite a lot. And the shibori resist-dyed piece was quite a surprise! It looks orange instead of pink, and the stripes are blue instead of white (!) What a beautiful surprise~! Such a different result on the wool compared to the silk, using the exact same dye recipe.
