Too old?!
That's what I heard more than once when I was still working as a teacher. When I started thinking about leaving my job, one of my colleagues said: "What? You're over 50. You only have 17 years left until retirement." Excuse me? Could you say that again? Seventeen years? But here's the interesting part. I didn't just hear "too old" from him. I heard it from my students too—many of them in their early twenties. At the beginning of the school year, I'd ask them why they didn't switch to a different training program if they weren't happy with the one they were in. The answer? "I'm already too old." Too old... in your early twenties. If "too old" shows up at 20 and at over 50, is it really about age? Or is it just a story we tell ourselves—no matter how old we are? You already told us what you've wanted to do for years. Now imagine you finally did it. How would you feel? Whether it's one word or a whole story, I'd love to hear from you.
