Ever notice how much energy the mind spends trying to control things it was never given a steering wheel for?
What other people think
Whether someone likes you
What happened in the past
What might happen in the future
Whether life unfolds according to your timeline
The mind keeps returning to these places.
Trying to predict
Trying to influence
Trying to gain certainty
But none of them truly answer to us.
And yet we hand them the keys to our attention.
Our mood changes because of them.
Our sleep is disturbed because of them.
Our peace depends on them.
The interesting thing is that every minute spent trying to control the uncontrollableโฆ is a minute taken away from the only place where we have any influence at all.
This moment
This breath
This conversation
This choice
The small patch of ground beneath our feet
๐ฏ Today: Notice when your attention is trying to take control of something it cannot control.
Then gently ask:
โWhat is actually mine to do right now?โ
Bring your attention back to that.
Because peace doesnโt come from gaining more control.
It comes from returning to what is already within it.
