It’s usually because you ignored Rhythm.
Human attention follows a specific biological pattern. To hold it, your script must hit these 4 specific beats:
- The Spike: Start with a jolt (novelty) to trigger the amygdala and force the brain to pay attention.
- The Stretch: Don't give the answer immediately. Build tension or raise the stakes to activate the prefrontal cortex.
- The Snap: Deliver the core insight. This is the payoff that releases dopamine.
- The Settle: Give a brief moment for the insight to land so the viewer doesn't feel rushed.
The Quick Fix: Audit your last script. If you went straight from the Hook to the Answer without a Stretch, you gave away the dopamine too cheap. Make them work for it.
