1. Why Meditate Longer — Mind Garden Meditation
When life gets busy, our meditation practice tends to shrink, and the mind stays in its habitual spin. This class speaks to why it's important to sit long enough for that activity to slow down on its own, until the mind gives up its pull toward the next thing and settles toward one object, the breath. From that stillness comes clarity and insight, and a calmer and more loving way of moving through the day. I share my experience sitting for one hour during my first ten day solo meditation retreat, and the insights I gained from that. Our guided sit leaves more silence than usual so we can try it out, and our closing discussion touches on correcting both distraction and dullness, and joyful return to the breath as the training itself.
