- Get outside and walk for stress relief
- Affirmation for the week “ I can feel an anxious and still be safe”
- Remember our deep breathing exercise: inhale for four hold it for two seconds then exhale for 4 to 6 seconds. See how your body responds to this.
- Anxiety is a threat detection system. It can be adaptive or male adaptive.
- Adaptive is a coping strategy that helps you work towards a solution. It has a set timeframe
- Maladaptive coping will cause further stress and possible depression. You may find yourself ruminating over the potential threat.
- Anxiety is something you predict or assume. It has not occurred yet.
- Fear is helpful in that it alerts you to potential dangers in your environment. It has an ending it does not linger.
- Ask yourself what did anxiety protect me from today?
- Ask yourself what did that anxiety cost me? Sleep, peace, time, relationships?
- If you are in constant fight- flight, your body is trying to adapt, but will eventually burn out
