Hello and welcome to The Medicine Beat Collective!
All drums are welcome here!
My name is Helen (she, her, hers) and I live on Djaara Djandak (Country Victoria) in Australia. I'm looking to connect with other drummers and drum keepers to explore how we use our drums for fun, medicine, mental health and magick! Please introduce yourself to the group and let us know what you'd like out of it.
I envisage live sessions where we all drum together, drum journeys and general sharing of knowledge and what we have learnt/ gained from our times with our drums.
Drumming has been used for millenia for ceremony, connection and music. Auditory entrainment with drumming has now been shown scientifically to have significant neurophysiological and somatic effects. Scientists are once again catching up with our remembering.
I own several frame drums (aka Shamanic or Medicine drums) which I play intuitively. I also own a djembé and a bodhrán where I follow a more Western World approach to learning.
