I didn’t need a fresh start.
I needed a nervous system that wasn’t still reacting like I was in the trenches of survival.
Because after divorce, nobody tells you this part…
You don’t just heal your heart.
You have to retrain your body to stop bracing for impact.
So I stopped calling it “getting myself together.”
I started calling it what it is…
Rewiring…and learning to regulate my nervous system.
In the gym, I release what I used to carry silently.
In nature, I return to myself without explanation.
On that message bed, I stop performing strength and let my body remember relaxation and safety.
I’m not becoming a new woman.
I’m becoming a regulated one.
And I protect that at all costs now.
Anything that pulls me out of that state doesn’t get access.
Not anymore.
Feel free to share some of the ways you’re working at regulating and rewiring your nervous system after divorce?
