The Office Is Empty
When I worked for the state, it came to a point where I cleared my entire office out. The only thing left on my desk was a picture of my boys. I mean I had added curtains and wallpaper and froo-from decor everywhere. And then one day… I took everything down.
Are you working in a space that feels invalidating? Like, you bring up ideas and questions and they get ignored and then a week later, someone else brings them up and it’s like “the best idea” ever? This is an all you common event for Black women. You are not alone. This is what invisibility looks like.
It’s the reason, why one day I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. And I planned my exit. I pulled back from volunteering and feeling the need to do everything. And I made a decision. Am I the only one?
