One of the greatest misunderstandings in modern church culture is assuming spiritual activity automatically equals spiritual maturity. A person can: know Scripture, serve faithfully, lead publicly, pray loudly, prophesy accurately, and still remain emotionally immature, unhealed, prideful, dishonest, or deeply unstable internally. Biblical maturity is not measured only by gifting or activity. It is measured by fruit. Fruit shows up in: how we handle correction, how we communicate, how we manage pressure, how we treat people privately, how we respond when we do not get our way, how we steward responsibility, and whether Christ is actually being formed within us. Many people learned how to function spiritually before they ever learned how to become whole. That is why healing, discipleship, emotional maturity, and sound doctrine cannot be separated from spiritual development. God is not only trying to use people. He is forming people.
