Attached is the prologue to a novel I am working on. I haven’t written (creatively) in years. I find myself using what I feel to be too much “concise” language that is unnatural. Our modern world requires one to articulate oneself clearly. Novels, in my estimation, exist to escape from our world. As such I am consistently second guessing my writing as I work through this novel. I read novels, but is my writing too… sterile? As I attempt to “contaminate” it with prose, I wonder if I am actually painting a picture, or just muddying my ideas with excessive character count?
I know my formatting is f*cked. It’s my first creative writing project in years. It will take me time to figure that out.
But I ask, how does it read?
Can you see it?
Let me know.
