Bon lundi à tous et à toutes !
If you’ve ever felt like your brain is melting while trying to learn French, I get it. In fact, the French-speaking world has two very different (and very funny) ways to tell you to keep going.
1. In France 🇫🇷
"Petit à petit, l'oiseau fait son nid."
- Literal translation: "Little by little, the bird makes its nest."
- The Vibe: This is the ultimate "don’t panic" phrase. You don't need to be fluent today; you just need to add one "twig" of knowledge at a time. Every word you learn is a piece of the nest.
2. In Québec 🇨🇦
"Lâche pas la patate !"
- Literal translation: "Don’t let go of the potato!"
- The Vibe: This is how they say "hang in there" in French Canada. Whether you're stressed about a test or tired of conjugating verbs, just remember: don’t drop the potato. Keep your grip and stay determined!
Why bother learning French?
It’s easy to get lost in the grammar, but take a second to remember why you chose to learn French in the first place. Maybe it was the dream of traveling, the love of the culture, or the goal of becoming a global citizen.
Learning French is important because it’s a key that unlocks doors on five different continents. When things get tough, stick to it. The "nest" you are building today is what will give you a world of opportunities tomorrow.
The goal for this week: Add one "twig" to your nest, and whatever happens... lâche pas la patate !
Bonne semaine à vous !
