I’m on vacation right now and, despite having absolutely no intention of spending my days thinking about work, my brain clearly didn't get the memo. Being away from everything has made me notice how much of Echora still moves because I move it. My first reaction was basically: well... that's probably not ideal. But the more I thought about it, the less sure I became. Because I actually like being involved. I don't dream of building a business I can disappear from for six months while everything magically happens without me. There are parts of Echora that I want to need me. My ideas, my perspective, the conversations I have with people, that's part of what I'm building. At the same time, there's definitely stuff where I'm thinking... Why the hell am I still the person doing this? 😂 And maybe that's the distinction I hadn't really thought about before. Perhaps the goal isn't to build a business that doesn't need you. Maybe it's to build one that only needs you where you actually add something by being there. I'm still figuring out where that line is for me, especially because Echora is so new. But now I'm curious about yours. If you stopped working for a week, what would be the first thing in your business to fall apart? And do you actually want that thing to depend on you? Because I'm starting to suspect I have a few answers I won't particularly like. 😂 — Echika ✦
