What if strength in dance isnāt about grinding harder,
but about treating yourself like something precious?
Iāll never forget Ms. Tee, my first dance coach.
She was tough. She yelled from the sidelines. She pushed us to the edge.
But hereās the thing⦠I always felt held.
When someoneās in your corner like that, you dance freer.
You perform harder. You rise higher.
Thatās the gift of being held.
But hereās what Iāve learned:
You donāt have to wait for someone else to give you that.
You can build it inside.
For me, itās a sticky note on my mirror:
š āTreating myself like a precious object will make me strong.ā
When I say it before class or rehearsal, it changes how I move.
It reminds me: strength isnāt just in musclesāitās in mindset.
And when external support meets internal preparation?
Thatās when you dance like you canāt be broken.
Pick one of these and make it real before your next session:
⢠Write a sticky note reminder and put it on your mirror
⢠Take 3 deep breaths before you dance, focusing on receiving support with each inhale
⢠Say one phrase out loud as if youāre your own biggest fan
Which one will you make a reality?
