Pricing
Lisa posted something the other day about upping her prices, which she absolutely should do. I had an interesting discussion with a friend of mine who is an amazing artisan. When I asked her the cost of making something that I would buy from her wholesale and then sell to my clients, she quoted me what seemed very high. So unfortunately, I won't be able to refer her. And her answer was that the client could just get it mass produced if they didn't want to pay what she considered worth her time and materials. So, maybe I'm not a great entrepreneur but I'd rather be selling then waiting to sell for high prices, because, #1 - I'm selling! And #2 - I always see the big picture. A client might buy what isn't a big ticket item, but if they love it they'll come back. I've been making stickers (and a few other things) for a year now and I'm at that point where I'm getting referrals. What do you guys feel? Is it best to hold out and not make a sale, or to open a door with a lower price knowing that you are building relations which will build your business? Thanks!
