👋 Welcome to The Car Enthusiast
Great to have you here. My name is Davin, I’m from Ireland 🇮🇪, and I’ve spent the last 12 years working in the automotive industry. I started on the tools like most of us — learning the hard way, making mistakes, fixing them, and building real, hands-on experience across diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, and performance work 🔧 I’ve worked in: - Independent garages - Main dealerships - Specialist automotive environments - Structured technical and diagnostic roles So I’ve seen both sides of the trade — how the job should be done, and how it’s often actually done in the real world.

🚗 Why this community exists
I genuinely enjoy teaching and sharing practical knowledge with: - Car enthusiasts - Hobbyists & DIYers - Apprentices 👨‍🔧 - Fellow mechanics The focus here is simple: - Getting jobs started properly - Getting them finished properly - Doing things realistically and practically — not just by the book or for social media - And ACTUALLY learning something, and holding onto that knowledge for the next job.
A little restoration project
Here is a 1.8tdci Ford transit connect I brought back to life a little while ago. What we did: Clutch and flywheel Oil air fuel and pollen filters Bumper and wheel arch restoration 3 stage paint correction. I will bring out a detailed step by step for all of the jobs done to this Ford if people are interested in taking a job like this on or doing there own project Some of the steps we took here were vital for a perfect finish. Let me know in the comments if you like to see more and learn the process.
