I was browsing Facebook Marketplace and came across a listing for a Pampered Chef air fryer. The first thing I noticed wasn’t the brand.
It was the crumbs. 😬
The seller didn’t even take a few minutes to wipe it down before taking photos.
And here’s the thing: People don’t just buy products on Marketplace. They buy confidence.
When buyers see: • grease• crumbs• clutter• poor lighting• messy backgrounds
…their brain immediately starts wondering:❌ “Was this taken care of?”❌ “Does it work properly?”❌ “What else is wrong with it?”
Even if the item itself is perfectly fine.
A quick clean-up can literally mean the difference between:💸 lowball offers💸 no messages💸 sitting unsold for weeks
OR:✨ more clicks✨ more trust✨ faster sales✨ higher prices
Before I photograph an item, I try to ask:👉 “If I were the buyer, would this photo make me feel good about handing over money?”
Marketplace success is often less about what you’re selling……and more about how you present it.
Tiny improvements matter.
🧹 Wipe it down.💡 Use decent lighting.📸 Take clear photos.🛋 Remove distractions from the background.
You’re not just selling an object. You're selling the feeling that the buyer is getting a good deal from someone who cared for it.
Have you ever seen a listing where the photos alone made you immediately say “NOPE”? 😂
