The Behavior Detective Game: Let's Figure This Out Together
Welcome to The Behavior Detective Game inside The BRIDGE.
Here is how it works: I share a real-life behavior scenario, and we use what we know about neurodivergent brains to decode what the behavior might be communicating. There are no wrong answers here. This is a learning game, not a test.
This week's scenario:
A nine-year-old child refuses to start their homework every single afternoon. They say they are fine, but the moment a pencil is in their hand, they start crying, arguing, or completely shutting down. The parent tries everything: rewards, timers, gentle reminders, stern reminders. Nothing seems to work consistently.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
What do you think this child's behavior might be communicating?
What could be happening in their brain and body at that moment in the afternoon?
What might actually help?
Drop your thoughts in the comments. I will share the clinical context in 24 hours.
Remember: this is about understanding before correcting. That is what The BRIDGE is built on.
