Never Leave the Kitchen Table Without a Next Step
Hey Blueprint fam,
Most jobs aren't lost on price.
They're lost in the last 2 minutes.
You walk the house.
You build the quote.
You present it.
Then the homeowner says, "Let us think about it."
And you say, "No problem. Call me when you're ready."
You just handed them the steering wheel.
And they're driving straight to the next guy's quote.
Here's what that costs you.
Every estimate you leave open-ended is a coin flip you don't control.
You drove there. You spent the hour. You did the work.
Then you walked away with nothing on the calendar.
"Think about it" isn't a no.
It's uncertainty.
Something isn't clear yet.
So don't rush to the door.
Slow down.
Stay calm.
Ask one question:
"Totally fair. What part are you still thinking through?"
Then stop talking and listen.
Most of the time it's one thing.
The timeline. The financing. Which option. Whether they trust you to show up.
Clear that one thing up right there at the table.
If they still need time, fine.
But you don't leave without a next step.
A day. A time. On both calendars.
"Let's do this. I'll call you Thursday at 6 after you've talked it over. Does that work?"
That's not pushy.
That's professional.
The contractor who controls the next step controls the sale.
So tell me.
When a homeowner says "let us think about it," what do you usually say back?
I'm right here with you.
