Becoming Mindful Together
Can I challenge you to do something today? Before you scroll past the next meal you cook, the next load of laundry you fold, the next school pickup, the next therapy appointment, or the next conversation you have… pause for a second and ask: Where is God in this moment? Not where was He yesterday. Not where do you hope He’ll be next year. Where is He right now? This week I made meals for my family. I rolled meatballs. I fried tortillas. I cleaned up dishes. I took my son to therapy and watched him work on skills that years ago felt impossible. I sat at a church gathering with women I didn’t know very well and quietly prayed, “Lord, help me not be shy.” I watered flowers. I watched my dog rest. I looked out the window with a cup in my hand and spoke to God about things nobody else knows. And the beautiful thing is that none of those moments looked particularly spiritual. No worship band. No conference. No mountaintop experience. Just ordinary life. But what if mindfulness is simply paying attention to God’s presence in the ordinary? What if discipleship happens just as much in the kitchen as it does in the sanctuary? What if driving to therapy becomes prayer? What if cooking becomes gratitude? What if watering flowers becomes an opportunity to thank God for growth? What if instead of focusing on how far your child has to go, you paused long enough to thank God for how far they’ve come? Today, I want you to practice noticing. Notice the meal. Notice the laughter. Notice the flowers. Notice the exhaustion. Notice the growth. Notice the provision. And most importantly, notice the Lord. Because God is not only found in the big moments. He’s also found in the dishes, the doctor’s offices, the carpools, the grocery stores, the Bible studies, and the quiet conversations happening inside your heart all day long. 🕊️ Call to action: Drop one ordinary moment from your day below and tell us: How did you notice God in it?
