Why can’t I sleep?
The Tick
Tock
Of the clock
Used to be the reason
For many nights of my insomnia
But tonight
That noise has become faint.
“It’s me”
Tonight something seems different
Something I cannot put my finger on.
I’m not tossing
I’m not turning
“You’re Thinking”
I try as hard as I can
To drift away
Hoping to dwell in the place
Where dreams live
However, I can’t get there.
“I know why”
Wrapping myself tight
Feeling warmth taking over my body
I try once again.
“I am the reason”
Suddenly
There is no more
Tick
Tock
My eyes become heavy
Yes, come to me”
Drifting away allowing sleep
To finally take over.
Images begin to play in my mind
“I’m here”
A crowd appears among dim lights
Soon a table made for two shows itself.
One chair empty
But, in the other
A silhouette
Someone I can’t make out
“See me. I need you to see me.”
I get closer to the table
Still wondering
Still needing
No…
Still wanting to know
Who sits there.
Soon, music starts to play
The silhouette
Turns into beauty in a red dress.
Light skin
A smile that could
Outshines the stars.
“Feel me, take me in your world.”
Visions become clear
The scene more detailed.
My name is called
A stage now lit
The crowd has faded
At the table
In the front row
I only see you
“Me.”
