The Poets Who Inspired Us
Every poet begins somewhere. Often it starts with reading the work of another poet whose words feel powerful, honest, or unforgettable. Sometimes a single poem can open the door to writing. Sometimes it’s a writer whose voice feels familiar, as if they understand something we have felt but never fully expressed. Discovering Influences The poets who influence us can come from anywhere. They may be well-known literary voices, or they may be writers we discover online, in communities, or in small collections of poetry. What matters is the connection we feel when reading their work. When we read poetry that resonates deeply, it often inspires us to explore our own voice. Learning From Other Poets Reading poetry can teach us many things. It can show us: • Different writing styles • New ways to use imagery • Unique perspectives on emotion • How simple language can create powerful meaning Every poet we read adds something to our understanding of the craft. Finding Your Own Voice While inspiration from other poets is valuable, every writer eventually discovers their own voice. Influence is a starting point. But your experiences, your perspective, and your emotions shape the poetry that only you can write. And that voice is what makes your poetry unique. A Question for the Table Which poets have influenced your writing the most? What was it about their work that inspired you? Sharing influences often leads to discovering new voices a nd new perspectives within the community.

What Is Your Writing Ritual?
Every poet develops their own writing ritual. Some write early in the morning when the world is quiet. Others write late at night when thoughts feel deeper, and the house is still. Some poets write with music playing. Others prefer silence. Some write in notebooks. Others write on their phones or laptops. There is no single correct way to write poetry. Creating Your Space Many poets create a space that helps them think and feel creatively. It might be: • A favorite chair • A desk by a window • A quiet corner of the house • A coffee shop • A walk in nature What matters most is finding a place where your thoughts can flow freely. Finding Your Time Some writers schedule time to write. Others wait until inspiration appears. Both approaches can work. What matters is giving yourself the opportunity to capture ideas when they come. Small Habits Matter Writing rituals often grow from small habits. Lighting a candle. Opening a notebook. Playing a certain type of music. Taking a quiet walk before writing. These small actions signal to the mind that it is time to create. The Poet’s Practice Great poets are not only inspired. They are also consistent. Even writing a few lines regularly can strengthen your voice over time. Poetry grows through attention, patience, and practice. And every poet eventually discovers the rhythm that works best for them.

Why can’t I sleep? The Tick Tock Of the clock Used to be the reason For many nights of my insomnia But tonight That noise has become faint. “It’s me” Tonight something seems different Something I cannot put my finger on. I’m not tossing I’m not turning “You’re Thinking” I try as hard as I can To drift away Hoping to dwell in the place Where dreams live However, I can’t get there. “I know why” Wrapping myself tight Feeling warmth taking over my body I try once again. “I am the reason” Suddenly There is no more Tick Tock My eyes become heavy Yes, come to me” Drifting away allowing sleep To finally take over. Images begin to play in my mind “I’m here” A crowd appears among dim lights Soon a table made for two shows itself. One chair empty But, in the other A silhouette Someone I can’t make out “See me. I need you to see me.” I get closer to the table Still wondering Still needing No… Still wanting to know Who sits there. Soon, music starts to play The silhouette Turns into beauty in a red dress. Light skin A smile that could Outshines the stars. “Feel me, take me in your world.” Visions become clear The scene more detailed. My name is called A stage now lit The crowd has faded At the table In the front row I only see you “Me.”

Goodbye
I’m writing this post to say thank you to everyone for everything but, I must admit that I don’t have the time or energy to contribute like most people do on this app. I’m going through a separation and it’s been a journey trying to find myself and get back to who I was. For now, I must leave the Skool app and put the focus on my new job, my life and my situation. Thank you everyone for everything. Love you all.
Goodbye
🌿 National Poetry Month Event – “One Line That Echoes” 🌿
What if one line… just one… could carry everything you’ve ever felt? Today’s challenge is simple—but powerful: ✍️ Write ONE line of poetry. That’s it. No full poem. No overthinking. Just one line that hits. It can be: Beautiful Brutal Hopeful Broken Or something you don’t even fully understand yet But it has to feel real. 🔥 How it works: Drop your line in the comments Read others Reply to the one that hits you the hardest 💬 At the end of the day, I’ll pick a few standout lines and feature them across all communities. Because sometimes… one line is all it takes to remind someone they’re not alone. Now go write something that echoes. 🎤
