July Accountability Check-In
Hello writers, We're somehow almost a week into July and I wanted to ask how everyone's writing and project updates were going. I personally haven't written anything yet, but that's about to change. Tell me how your writing is going, or what goals you may have for this month.
Response To: "July Accountability Check-In"
I swear July snuck up on me like a plot twist none of us approved. One minute I was saying, “I’ll start fresh in July,” and the next minute July said, “Surprise! I’m already halfway done.” My writing so far this month has been… let’s call it “warming up.” I’ve opened my manuscript, stared at it meaningfully, and even scrolled through it like a Victorian ghost haunting its own novel. Actual words on the page? Those are coming soon — allegedly. My goal for July is simple: momentum. Not perfection, not brilliance, just steady forward motion. A few pages, a few scenes, maybe even a chapter if the stars align and my coffee is strong enough. I’m focusing on showing up even when the writing gremlins whisper dramatic nonsense. So yes — you’re not alone. July is already sprinting ahead, but we’re catching up. Here’s to a month of small wins, messy drafts, and the occasional moment where we surprise ourselves by actually writing something good. Let’s do this!
The June Accountability Check-In
Hello writers, It's a brand new month, so that means I'm going to check in and see how your writing is coming, or what you hope to get done this month. Share your goals in the comments. It can be any goal, from writing a short story to finishing that novel, or hitting a certain word count threshold. For me personally, I think if I can write at least 5k words in my novel, I'll be happy. I would also like to ask if anyone is interested in getting one-on-one accountability help. Basically, if you opt in via the poll, I'll know to reach out to you regularly and ask about your writing. Now let's get writing!

Accountability Check In
Hello writers, We are now about 2/3 of the way through May. At the very beginning of the month, I was hoping to make a post asking everyone to share some writing goals for the month. Due to unexpected circumstances, I did not do that. However, the month isn't over yet. There's still plenty of time to get some writing done. So instead of asking for concrete writing goals, I'm just going to ask a simple question: did you write this month? Did you write as much as you wanted to? If you're not happy with your answer, there's still plenty of time to do some writing and change that. I'll go first. I've done some writing this month. Probably not as much as I would like to have done. I don't keep track of my actual word count or anything when working on my novel, but that might be something worth trying out next month. Or maybe for a given week? I don't know. I do still have some writing aspirations this month. I would like to write two short stories, and keep plugging away at my novel. The first will be in response to my monthly writing prompt because I realized I haven't done anything for that one yet. My other story will just be a fun one that I want to write after having a spark of inspiration the other day. Maybe I can use the upcoming holiday to write and upload those. If you find these kinds of accountability updates helpful, please let me know. I can make more of them to bug you. And if you want personal accountability, I think I can do that too. Feel free to DM me if you want that, and I'll make sure to hold you accountable. Now let's get back to writing!
Introducing "Updates & Accountability"
Hello writers, I've created a new channel to help hold people accountable. I'll be getting in the habit soon of using this channel to check in and make sure members are sticking with their writing. This channel will also be the place where everyone can post writing updates (usually in response to my accountability check-ins). Feel free to post about whatever milestones you want: total word counts, weekly word counts, finishing a chapter, finishing a draft, etc. Now that that's all out of the way, let's get started with a question of accountability: share your current work-in-progress. What is it? What's it about? How far along are you? Do you have any deadlines you want to keep (or need help keeping)?
