Welcome to The Duty Social Worker
This space exists for one reason:
to think well about complex adult social care practice — together.
Duty work often brings the most uncertainty, pressure, and grey areas. Decisions are made quickly, information is incomplete, and the stakes can feel high. This community is designed to slow that process down.
Each week, I’ll share fully anonymised, duty-style scenarios drawn from real practice themes. These are not cases for advice or instruction, but opportunities to reflect on:
- professional judgement
- legal and ethical considerations
- risk and proportionality
- system pressures and thresholds
There are no ‘right answers’ here. The value is in the thinking, the questioning, and how we hold complexity.
Please keep posts anonymised, reflective, and respectful. No live cases and no identifying details.
Please introduce yourself in the comments — role, area of practice, or what you’re hoping to get from this space (no personal or employer details).
Glad you’re here.
