A Softer Future
You do not betray your past by choosing a softer future․ It is those moments that remind us that life goes on․
One of those is birthdays․ Another year․ Another chapter․
It is a chance to see what has changed‚ what is the same‚ and what we want to hold on to․
On this day‚ the day of Isaiah's birthday‚ I think of the lives that we build after we have already lived․
Sometimes we get so focused on who we had to be that becoming someone new feels almost disrespectful to our own story․
But if you choose differently‚ that doesn't take away your roots․
AFFIRMATION
I honor where I have been․
I let go of the idea that my future would be like my past․
I am allowed to choose what feels softer‚ wiser‚ and more aligned․
There is room in my life for a new way forward․
REFLECTION
What part of my past have I been carrying around as though‚ once released‚ it would not matter at all?
You can make your past true and not in charge․
You can remember without reconstructing the same environment․
I think you can pay tribute to what shaped you‚ but not hang everything on it․
Life in a softer future will not be free of responsibilities‚ disappointments‚ or change․
It may simply be that your volunteering for pain is conspicuously absent now․
PRACTICE
Think about the life you're creating right now․
Not the life you survived․
Not the life others expected․
The life you are actively creating․
Complete this sentence:
“My future is allowed to feel more than my past․”
Don't choose what sounds the most spiritual‚ reverent or impressive at first․
Choose the word you actually want․
Peaceful․
Stable․
Joyful․
Supported․
Honest․
Free․
Connected․
Soft․
Let your answer tell you something․
TODAY’S REMINDER
You do not owe your past a reenactment․
You are allowed to thank the road behind you and still choose a different road forward․
And today‚ on Isaiah's birthday‚ I'm reminded how life seems to keep giving us markers of time․
May we notice them․
May we honor them․
And may we give ourselves permission to become․
