What I Learned From Starbucks This Past Month
#blogpost - I've been watching Starbucks' business model from inside the cafe this past month and it has really taught me a lot about growing and scaling a business, corporate culture and customer experience. I'm sharing my thoughts about it all here. The past month, my internet has been flaky. Struggling to connect and at peak traffic times, my T-Mobile hotspot and wireless service don't cut it at all. I live on the outskirts of Northeast Houston. While the coverage map shows magenta, the bars on my phone tell a different story. It doesn't help that I live across the street from the high school, across the highway from a major shopping center and at the intersection of two very busy highways. You probably have the full picture now. So off to Starbucks I skedaddle. Some days it's 2 hours. Some days it's 8+. So much they know my name, know my order and have told me I'm one of their favorites. ☺️ Now, this ADHD brain loves the flow there. It actually helps me to hyperfocus in but as my thoughts are processing or I'm waiting for chat to process our thinking, I am watching. I love people watching. So Starbies is really great for me. There's a new store opening in that shopping center I mentioned across from my house. Context you'll want. There's one North of me at another major farm to market road. 8 minutes from my house. The one I go to is 10 minutes South of my house. In the shopping center, there's a store inside a Kroger and a Target but no standalone. So that is what is about to be opened along the westbound feeder road on this major highway this week! EEK!! Three new people have been training at my store for the new store. Plus, two of my favorite baristas have excitedly told me they are moving to the new store. I say congratulations but my face probably isn't saying that. They will be missed. Getting to the point... there were two being trained on the same machine by two different trainers on the same shift. So I got curious and asked the key holder /shift manager. This is actually how they staff new stores. That's why Starbucks feels seamless. Why walking into one feels similar to walking into another. New members are trained at an established store and new stores are opened with a mix of seasoned and new staff. Then she said something else fascinating. There's a shift marketplace where you can pick up a shift at any location. 🤯 And if you need to give away a shift... marketplace.

Naked 🔥
My profile hasn't been this naked in a long time. I thought i had gotten my activities in Sunday night just like every other night. I missed my activities by 2. SAD FACE! I was ON the platform all day but clearly too many DMs, not enough likes, posts, polls, and comments. So here's to my next 28 days getting my fire back. How do you feel about the flame and other emojis behind your name on the platform? Do you know what each one means?
Introductions
Welcome in to the lab! You've joined my Frankenstein community. No, no weird monsters or human + alien DNA splicing going on over here. BUT this is a public community to test posts, classroom options, break new Skool features and bug out on things. A few housekeeping items... for now, I am not allowing self-promotion in this community. This is not the way. However, you should mosey on over to The Skool Classifieds if you are looking for a way to promote your community every day including links and special offers & events. Occasionally, I will promote Skools that I am in LOVE with but TBH... 90% of that promotion happens over in Skool Reviews. This is a community for members to share the amazing communities they are in and all the reasons someone would want to come join. Now, let's jump over to the fun stuff.... You're here now. Let's get to know each other. This is your chance to share a bit about yourself. .... you choose... here are some options... - where in the world are you? - what's your favorite childhood memory? - your favorite vacation or travel destination? - your weirdest food fave that gets you side eyes - want to share family or pet pics? <this is a public group so everyone, everywhere has access> - coffee or tea or some other favorite pick me up drink Or anything else you find interesting to find others who hold it in common. Skool is all about uniting the masses. Let's connect! There's plenty for us to disagree about these days but let's spend more time finding what we have in common. LOVE WINS every time!! Also... your profile bio is probably all about how you are a human DOING. The goal of your intro post here is how you are a human BEing. How do you show up in the world and just BE?!
Body Doubling & Co-Working
Have you heard of this productivity hack for people with ADHD? This is precisely why I go to Starbucks a few times a week or why I get more work done with my front door to my house open. I'd love to offer some co-working sessions to anyone who needs focused work time. I'm thinking one in the afternoon and another one in the evening on a different day. Would this help you? I know it would help me.
Who Wants to Test a ChatGPT Extraction Prompt With Me?
I'm working on extracting the juicy bits from my chat sessions over the past year. I want to capture how I've grown and evolved. Plus, I want to start backing up my sessions for my own personal peace of mind. I recently started using the Main Branch tools to capture my sessions in a way that will allow me not to have to repeat myself. Instead, every day my sessions with Claude pick up where we left off, document where we've gone and what we've done together. Main Branch is essentially a running repository of my thinking... it's storing my sessions as structured files, tracking how my ideas evolve over time, and letting Claude reference that history so each new session builds on the last instead of starting from scratch. I'm creating my thinking brain inside Claude Code. YES... I am still thinking for myself. YES, I am still directing where this goes. So tonight I created a prompt to start creating summary handoffs so I have full context and details of sessions that I've been working in. I've attached the PDF prompt that you can upload to any chat session you want summarized. I also added this afterwards: - Things I keep returning to - Repeated tensions or preferences - Signals about how I think or decide This will extract your patterns and your thinking model. If you want to provide feedback, I'd love to hear it. What did your chat say about the summary handoff prompt? When you put that summary into a new chat session, were you able to start from where you left off in the previous session? (yes, this is my affiliate link and I might earn money if you join)
