In 2021 I was starting to really figure out what needed to be done for me to be successful. I had committed myself to learning more about Ifa, and what my ancestors had laid out for me. As it happened, I was preparing for an Eleke Ceremony.
Now a lil bit of context. I was studying under an Iyanifa who is working to create an additional practice in ATR (African Traditional Religions). She has many crowns and grew up in the church. This practice as I fully understand now, is like a mash up of practices. a gumbo if you will of spiritual practices. The Eleke Ceremony is the first entry point of being a Priestess in Training.
In September, 1 month before my first ever ceremony, my apartment caught on fire. My brother almost lost his life, and I was devastated. I felt like what a set back. I reached out the mentor I had at the time, and she did a divination to determine what was going on. The winds of change. She told me this was not to be seen as a set back, but a set up for something greater. I did a new home working and got a place within three weeks of the fire, and started out to figure out how to re-establish and support my brother.
I did end up going to the eleke ceremony, and now here we are 5 years later, and I am stronger and wiser and have taken that perceived set back, and turned it into the opportunity to listen clearly and to move when Oya say move. To take the swift change she brings, and to use it to align me perfectly with my greatest destiny. Keeping me in good character and following my purpose.
Oya represents the winds of change. She manages the ancestor realm, and the market place (earth) She is the wife of Shango. Her number is 9. Her colors are purple and Red. You can give Oya Red Wine, plum wine, and gin. kola nut, eggplant and things in bunches of 9. She is the cool breeze on a hot summer day, bringing coolness and calmness, and she is the roaring winds, knocking down trees and building bringing fear and anxiousness. Her and Shango share an Ose day. which is today.
