The Divine Messenger
Esu, Esu lanulanu, Esu Odara.
Much like all the Orisa, Lwa, and deities, there are may roads, or aspects to consider when we first pay or honor Esu.
The Divine messenger is the one Orisa. If you have heard the saying "there are 200 on the left, 200 on the right and 1 in the middle. The one in the middle is Esu." Esu is the right hand of Orunmila. When you are seeking knowledge and wisdom from Orunmila, you must first honor Esu. When you are feeding any Orisa or making any prayers or petitions to any Orisa, you must first consult Esu and make offerings.
