Welcome to our Community! Let's get started on Surf Topics and Investing Strategies.
Aloha Gang, Lets start off with some introductions. Where are you visiting from? What are your favorite surf destinations? I'm_____ from ________ is always the best way to start! I'm Zach originally from the great state of Texas, but found my home in Hawaii at the age of 23. I consider myself to be a late bloomer, but an example of someone who just didn't give up and stayed the course. Surfing took up a lot of my time, but I ended up becoming a surf instructor to help supplement income while learning. I know that seems like a funny concept, but thats how it went for me. It allowed me to take criticism and watch how better surfers read water and approach a wave of any size. I learned from so many awesome characters, but trust me there are always people that don't want to see you thriving. In fact, most people don't want to see you succeed more than themselves, but getting out there with the right mindset and approach will be a game changer. I started investing in myself around 10 years ago....nobody ever sat me down and taught me the basics, it just took trial and error and felt like I was being defeated constantly. My friends and family would ridicule me for talking about Crypto, and their ideas of "gambling" your hard earned money away. It was a tough pill to swallow that people were doing less work and making way more money than I could imagine. I was angry at myself mostly for not having more, but I had something they could never take away from me. My ability to surf gave me an opportunity into a world of creatives, narcissists and the outcasts of society. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of well to do Surfers who are also very religious or hold high power positions in their company. I saw some older surfers that still had to work laboriously to get by in Hawaii, it made me sad to think these guys should be enjoying their finals days here, not selling their time for a paycheck. That was a turning point for me, seeing my friend Robert battle cancer and working at nearly 70 years old as a carpenter, doing the job that would put most young men down from exhaustion. I knew if I didn't make some serious changes this would be my future. I started reading and writing, getting more involved in the world of finance and real estate, the stock market was something that looked impossible at the time. All the stories of people losing everything with companies like Enron, and Ask Jeeves thinking they were going to get rich and retire at 45 years old. I realized there are also so many success stories of individuals just playing it safe, the long game. Making passive investing choices while simply living your best life. What would you do for a chance of that kind of freedom? You can still work effectively at your day job, while booking surf trips months in advance. All it takes is just investing once or twice a month to seen gains from dividends and compound interest. Focusing on companies that will show signs of growth, just look at what Nvidia and Tesla have in store.
