One thing I realized about my parents after doing this exercise is…
They’re not avoiding teaching their kids about money because they don’t care — they’re avoiding it because they care so much and are afraid of doing it wrong.
They’re carrying guilt from their own money story and trying to protect their kids from the same stress they felt growing up. They want to do better but don’t know how — and that fear often sounds like frustration or silence.
When I meet them with calm tools and simple rituals, I’m not just teaching money — I’m helping them rebuild confidence in themselves as parents.
It reminded me that my job isn’t to give them more information; it’s to give them permission to start small, imperfectly, and with love.
