Welcome to Spotswood Music šŸŽ¶
Hey y’all! I’m Ben Spotswood. I left my 9–5 to go all-in on music, and I built this space so we don’t just connect through social media. We can hang out and share. For me, music is my thing in life, but it took time, mistakes, and some big leaps to figure that out. Here, I’ll be sharing: šŸŽµ My journey of realizing it was for me šŸŽ¤ Stories from my experience āœšŸ¼ What I’m learning about songwriting, practice, performing Would love for you to share your own wins and lessons. šŸ‘‹ Drop an intro in the comments. Just your name, where you’re from, what brought you here, and share a pic of your favorite instrument. Glad you’re here. Let’s keep it real. — Ben

It’s been a little bit since I’ve posted, but we’re still here. Putting out new music and gigging has taken up a lot of time lately. Appreciate y’all being here šŸ™šŸ¼

Writing SLB
Life looked a lot different when I wrote this song. What it became is a result of those changes. I wanted to write something with a real sense of motion, something that keeps moving forward. This song is about sticking with it. Thanks for listening šŸ™šŸ¼

Speed Limit Blues is live
Hey y’all, Speed Limit Blues is officially out. This song came from a specific headspace: those moments when life forces a slowdown, but momentum is the only way forward. It’s for when things don’t move on your timeline. When you’re stuck waiting, but quitting isn’t an option. When turning around would be easier, and you decide not to. ā€˜Cause getting better is the only way through. This song is about staying with it. Trusting the direction you chose, and being loyal to it. It’s also for anyone with a sense of duty — to the people you love, to the work you’ve committed to, to the version of yourself you said you’d become. I wanted to write a song to get me going, one that inspired freedom and determination, and I think you’ll feel it too. If you’ve ever felt pulled back while trying to move ahead, this one’s for you. Thank you for being here, for listening, and for riding along with me. Turn it up. It’s better in the car. — Ben šŸŽ§ Live everywhere now. Songs I write for who I’m becoming
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ¼ I realized recently that a lot of the songs I write are more like reminders for where I’m headed. Speed Limit Blues came from that place without me fully realizing it at the time. Now I can see how writing toward a future version of myself has shown up more than once. This video is just me thinking a bit about that and the year ahead. Enjoy the rest of the year šŸ¤šŸ¼
